![]() ![]() This book does a fine job of taking many figures from folklore (Maeve of Connaugt, Deirdre, Skye.Cuchullain himself) the stories themselves, placing them into a sort of magically influenced historical fiction and making the entire thing work. The ones who are actually "heroic", clay feet not withstanding. As I think I've mentioned before, I like heroes. Again, folklore and history get badly entwined here along with the mythology. If you're interested look up the cattle raid of Cooley. Cuchulain victim of his own vow, killer of his own son and (at times) a berserk(er) warrior. Son of prophecy he will defend in single handed battle.and die young. The legend of Cuchulain has come down through time, history and folklore as tale of courage and tragedy. Cuchulain, another sad, brave figure (Irish history and folklore are full of them). ![]()

Suetonius was another ancient writer that lived over one hundred years after the assassination of Caesar yet Suetonius had access to important archival records and literary sources that are now lost. But who’s to say which one is correct? That is where the work of Suetonius comes in. Even Shakespeare used him as a historical reference in his play on Caesar.Īlthough this is the case, Plutarch and Shakespeare’s portrayals of Caesar and the events that encompass his life are quite different. Plutarch was one of the world’s first modern biographers and his work is still used today. In fact a famous ancient writer named Plutarch depicted Julius Caesar as a power-hungry and arrogant man in his biography The Life of Caesar. However, this view is not shared by all of the biographers that chose to write about Julius Caesar. This quote also shows how Shakespeare perceived Julius Caesar as a prominent and influential man of his time. He is speaking about Julius Caesar and Caesar’s arrogance and overconfidence. These words were spoken by Cassius, a character in Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar. ![]() ![]() ![]() New megan miranda Rain sound (with thunder) _ rain pattern(1033298) - Evolve Sound lob.ĥ68 views| Rain sound (with thunder) _ rain pattern(1033298) - Evolve Sound lob. □ #booktok #booktoker #bookish #bookrecommendations #thrillerbooks #thrillerbooklover #thrillerbooktok #scribnerbooks #bookworm".
